    Homecoming 2013

Homecoming is always one of the most memorable times throughout the year! Many alumni and even current mustangs come out to show their school pride. The campus is filled with the colours purple and white.  This 2013th year was special since it marked Western Athletic's 100th birthday.

The traditional football game played at TD Waterhouse was definitely no let down. The Western Mustangs beat Queens University by the final score of 50-31. Apart from the football game, the SunStang team was out there to entertain the crowd with the race car simulator. This of course was a hit with all the young kids showing them how cool really engineering is! Lots of alumni liked our idea of the Solar Car Project as well as others, getting shout outs from local radio stations such as 97.5 Virgin Radio and BX93.

One of SunStangs original members, that actually helped build the 1996 car we had on display, finally got to relive his memories in our simulator after 16 years. He was one of the drivers that got to take part in the 1996 race that took place in Australia coming in 12th place.

Meanwhile on the other side of campus back in the Spencer Engineering building….Another Sunstang team was ready to tackle on all curious and interested alumni that took the time to come by and see what we had to offer. Among the crowd were three of westerns first engineering alumni, which to me seemed really neat considering the first graduating class was 55 years ago!  Homecoming provides a great opportunity for networking and awareness of what we, the SunsStang team, is all about. Although not much fundraising was done for our team that day, we sure did a lot of “friendraising” :)
